Your stories stay yours
Privacy Policy
Librino is built to give your family library a private, thoughtful home. This policy explains what stays on your device, what is processed when you choose Librino Cloud, and the choices you have.
Effective and last updated:
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Librino iOS app, Librino Cloud, librino.app, and support communications. “Librino,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the independent developer operating these services.
2. Your choice: local-only or cloud
Librino lets you begin with a local-only library or choose a cloud profile. In local-only mode, your library database and supported photos remain on your iPhone and are not synchronized to Librino Cloud. ISBN lookups still contact book-information providers.
If you create or sign into a cloud profile, Librino processes the information needed to authenticate you and synchronize supported library records and photos across supported devices.
3. Information we process
Cloud account information
- Your first and last name, email address, account identifier, and email-verification status.
- Authentication tokens stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device.
- Your password is submitted to our authentication provider and is not available to us in readable form.
Library content you provide
- Book titles, authors, ISBNs, covers, shelves, reading status, progress, notes, reflections, bookmarks, and wishlist entries.
- Loan and borrowing details, which may include another person’s name, contact information, or address when you choose to enter it.
- Library membership details, reading memories, captions, dates, and photos you choose to add or upload.
Device, support, and technical information
- On-device settings such as your selected operating mode, appearance, and notification preferences.
- Messages and account details you include when contacting support.
- Basic request and security logs that hosting providers may process, such as IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, and request diagnostics.
4. How we use information
- Provide account creation, email verification, sign-in, and session security.
- Store, synchronize, restore, and display your cloud library and selected media.
- Look up book metadata and cover art using an ISBN.
- Operate the website, send service emails, respond to support, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot failures.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Librino and its users.
Librino does not sell personal information, use targeted advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
5. Service providers and external requests
We use a small number of providers to operate Librino:
- Supabase provides cloud authentication, database, and media storage.
- Open Library / Internet Archive and Google Books receive ISBN lookup requests and normal network information so Librino can retrieve book metadata and covers.
- Vercel hosts librino.app and may process website request logs.
- Microsoft provides transactional email and support-email services.
- Apple distributes the app and provides device features such as photo selection, camera permissions, Keychain, and local notifications under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.
Where providers process Librino Cloud data on our behalf, we select providers with contractual and security commitments designed to provide protection appropriate to the information. Book-information providers receive the ISBN and normal network request information, not your Librino profile, private notes, memories, or uploaded photos. We do not authorize providers to use Librino Cloud content for advertising on our behalf.
6. Camera, photos, and notifications
Camera access is used to scan ISBN barcodes and to capture book or memory photos. Photo-library access is used only when you choose a photo or ask Librino to save one. Notifications are used for on-device book-loan reminders. You can change these permissions in iOS Settings.
7. Retention and deletion
Local-only information remains on your device until you delete the local library, remove the app and its data, or erase the device. Deleting local data does not delete a separate cloud account.
Cloud information is kept while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can initiate a cloud-account deletion request from Librino’s Profile screen or contact admin@librino.app. We may ask you to verify account ownership. We aim to complete verified requests within 30 days, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Associated synchronized records and uploaded media are deleted with the account; limited security logs or backup copies may remain until they expire or are overwritten.
Deleting a cloud account does not remove a separate local-only library stored on your iPhone. Data processed by external book-information providers is subject to their retention practices.
8. Security and availability
We use encrypted network connections, account authentication, device Keychain storage, and access controls intended to protect cloud data. No system is perfectly secure. Librino Cloud is a small independent service provided on a best-effort basis and is not a guaranteed backup or archival service. Keep your own copies of anything important.
9. Children and family information
Librino is a family-library organizer, but the cloud service is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended for children to create accounts on their own. A parent or guardian should manage any family information involving a child and avoid entering unnecessary contact or sensitive information.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information, or to withdraw consent. Contact us to make a request. You may also choose local-only mode, decline optional permissions, remove content from the app, or request cloud-account deletion.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Librino changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when a change is material.
